Merry Christmas from All of Us at SierraSil 🎄

December is a time for wrapping - whether Christmas or holiday presents and our hopes and dreams for the year. It’s a great time to reflect on joys and losses. I'll share some of mine, but for those familiar with my blogs, you know that I like to share some practical, health or community-oriented content, so I'll sneak that in first.

We are all imperfect, works in progress. I just finished a book first published in 1996! Father Elijah by Michael O'Brien – well written, interesting and possibly also important. Many of the imperfect characters wrestle with big questions and doubts vocationally, spiritually and even in love. It’s so true that we are all imperfect and often wrestle with questions in our lives, not to mention unfinished resolutions or just inconsistently applied ones.

December is a great time to reflect on these questions and resolutions. Whether on your own with input from a spouse, a family member, or a friend. Some thoughts may lead to new resolutions – whether to answer questions or chart refreshed health choices, spiritual or physical. We can all grow and learn no matter what our age.

Okay, now about me! So many joys in 2025. My youngest son's university graduation, trips to Greece, Tofino (on Vancouver Island) and Haida Gwaii, my 40th anniversary, and my grandson’s first steps were among the events at the top of my list. I re-took up squash in the fall and while I didn't play much golf, my game gave me optimism of more good rounds in me! And there is much more for me to appreciate and be grateful for. Yes there were disappointments, even losses as well. They include my mum's death, although at 95 and limited health, it was not a surprise. Fortunately, it was peaceful and surrounded by people who loved her and it was followed by a lovely service.

As to my resolutions, I've declared that already - to get a head start on holding my head higher to improve my posture - as per my October blog. But I'm also going to think but other changes I want to make.

As we head to the peak of the "holiday" season, my heart is saddened by some recent news stories. However, as we approach Christmas and the New Year, I hope it can be a time of joy, peace and calm for you. A time with family and friends, good food, good music and good new memories.

Blessings to you,

Michael
