Rome is like lasagna; there are so many layers that it’s hard to know where to look, according to the local tour guides. And it's true. Walking the streets of Rome, you find the city is built layer upon layer. Observe the cobblestone street you are on and there are many places (such as behind the soon-to-be 2,000-year-old Pantheon) that you are well above the original 'ground level'. So as we enter 2022, I observe that the layers of Rome are an apt metaphor for our journey. I'm giving the "boot" of Italy to traditional January blogs about resolutions. I hope you don't mind.

Cooler temperatures, combined with diminishing sunlight, could dampen your spirits to continue on your fitness journey. Of course, there are many dyed-in-the-wool workout fanatics who enjoy the wet, soggy and sometimes snowy conditions, and yet every person willing to venture outside their comfort zone will find an intoxicating invasion of the senses awaits them. The unique set of challenges, including inclement weather, slippery terrain and sudden drops in temperature goes with the territory.

As we experience the onset of fall, there is a little chill in the morning air, dew on the car windshield, the first signs of crisp leaves underfoot and even a little chill on the hands during morning bike commutes. For many, especially students and teachers and some athletes, September is their "new year"; it’s the time for them to set new goals, work on new routines and look forward to what the next twelve months will bring. For my wife Lesley and I, it begins a new season in our lives - empty nesting - as our youngest son left for university on August 28th. And just a week after that, a new season came upon me as my dad passed away at the age of 91. It also marks the last year of my sixth decade! What follows are short reflections on these and then some news about SierraSil’s updated product pricing.
